My favorite Disney princess has always been Belle, and I was in the mood for a gritty motorcycle club romance, so this book felt like a total win win for me. This book delivered a bold, edgy retelling that blends fairy tale vibes with the raw, dangerous world of an MC.
This story takes the familiar Beauty and the Beast story and gives it a dark twist. Belle is fiercely loyal and determined to keep her uncle Maurice safe when the evil Gaston shows up and threatens everything. Enter Beast. He saves Belle, takes her back to his “castle” which in this case is firmly rooted in MC territory, and arranges medical care for Uncle Maurice. But nothing is free, and it comes at a price.
I loved watching Belle navigate the new and dangerous situation she finds herself in. She is strong and compassionate. Her nickname for Beast, “bike gangster,” made me smile every time she said it. It captures that mix of intimidation and intrigue that makes him Beast. I have to say I love when we get to see the softer side to Beast.
The audio version, narrated by Ada Sinclair and Walker Williams, was good. They both brought this story to life in a way that made it hard to stop listening. Their performances added an extra layer of intensity to the story.
A few of my Favorites:
“And you should think the worst of me, Belle. It will be safer for you if you do.”
“You don’t know me very well if you think l’d ask you to give up something you love.” “But you are. Because you’re asking me to give up you. And you’re what I love the most in this world. I’m yours. All of me. The truth is, I was the moment you took your first breath. Even when I thought you were gone.”
You are the other half of me, Belle. It’s you and me.
